The Rimouski Regional Health Centre renovation /expansion project dealt with the reorganization of the existing life units, treatment and support services, as well as administrative and reception services. Planning and building of this part of the project had to be realized with full daily operations maintained and with patients and personnel disturbance kep to a minimum. More than a dozen certificates of practical completion were planned to allow for an accelerated occupation of the reoganized spaces.
The extension now houses specialized departments such as cancer treatment facilities, pathology laboratories, cythology and diagnostic, ergotherapy, physiotherapy and clinics of hemodialysis, gastroenterology and nuclear medicine. New intensive, intermediate and day care units were also built. The access and reception of the oncology and radiotherapy centre was given particular attention to respond to the greater need of intimity and discretion wished for by these patients
